TO: NPZA Members and others in the Planning and Zoning Field in Nebraska

FROM: Judy Clark – NPZA President

The planning and zoning community in Nebraska is mourning the loss of Dean Rolls. He passed away on May 27, 2024, in Hastings, NE.

Dean had a long and distinguished involvement in the planning and zoning field for Adams County. He was a member of the Adams County Planning Commission for __ years. He was a “no nonsense, straight shooter” when it came to planning and zoning issues with a thirst to learn more about planning and zoning. Dean was a regular attendee at the Nebraska Planning Conference, where his passion for the subject was clearly evident in his desire to learn more.

Dean was a recent winner of the Carol Swayne Planning Commissioner Achievement Award, a distinguished award given to those members of a planning commission that have dedicated many years of tireless work to make their communities better through proper planning and zoning.

Dean Roll’s dedication to good planning in his years of service to the Adams County and the NPZA serves as an inspiration to others involved in planning throughout the state. He will be missed by all who knew him and had the privilege of interacting and working with him on planning and zoning issues.
